NOMLAQA BODA (I am nomlaki)

The Paskenta Band of the Nomlaki Indians

This 2-hour documentary currently in post-production traces the history of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians from pre-contact through today.

After suffering indentured servitude and removal from their native lands, they were finally given their own rancheria in 1920.  But in 1959 the federal government withdrew recognition of the Tribe and reclaimed the land.  After more than 40 years, the Paskenta faced down the US Congress, asking for re-recognition as a sovereign nation.

Expected release: January 2010
